D 2 . 1 : State - of - the - art in monitoring control for remote maintenance

This report summarizes the current state of research and practice in the area of software maintenance with a particular emphasis on remote software maintenance. We summarize models and processes used in classical software maintenance and remote software maintenance. Then, we describe approaches and tools in software-fault monitoring using two different taxonomies. Concluding, we identify research islands within remote software maintenance and propose how these islands should be merged beneficially.
